First Video Card (GTX 770 or wait for new R9s from AMD?)

I'm currently looking to buy my first graphics card for my system, as I'm using my "gaming" rig for 2 months already without a decent, dedicated GPU. It's really frustrating, and I'm starting to get tired of waiting.

I now currently have the funds ($250 to $300) to get a 2GB 256-Bit GTX 760, but the new AMD Radeon 280X 3GB 384-Bit (basically a 7970 that AMD is positioning as a "sweet-spot" or mid-range offering) that's due on a few days (Oct. 8, according to tech sites) looks promising.

Also, Nvidia is also rumored to to release "better" cards days/weeks after the R9 series comes out on the market.

So, what card should I go for? I'm looking to game on 1080P monitor, with very high to max settings, and with motion blur, and AA off (since I'm really not a fan of anti-aliasing)

Also, is PhysX worth it on a dedicated desktop video card? I've had experience on PhysX on a gaming laptop, but turning on the setting ate up a LOT of frames. I'm just wondering if that's not the case on the desktop platform.

Thanks guys! Your help will be very much appreciated! :)
