Im planning to run raid 0 with a samsung 840 250gb ssd with a WDC Caviar Blue SATA-6G 1TB 64 MB Hard Disk, however im not sure if my motherboard which i am planning to buy will work with it. To be honest Im just doing this because I want to use my ssd because its been sitting here for a month now and i do not want it to go to waste. I also have no idea how I will do this but if all else fails I will just use the WD drive.
Below is my build.
CPU:Intel Core i5-4570 LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics (3.2GHz/6MB) BX80646I54570 $269
Motherboard: Asus H87M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard $165
Memory: Corsair PC3-12800 Vengeance Pro 16GB Kit C9 (8Gx2) Black CMY16GX3M2A1600C9 $219
Storage: WDC Caviar Blue SATA-6G 1TB 64 MB Hard Disk (WD10EAEX) $81
Video Card: MSI GTX760 Twin Frozr II OC 2GB PCIE 3.0 N760TF2GD5/OC $339
Power Supply: Corsair TX-650M 650W Modular 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply $129
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B5ST/BK/OEM 24x Dvd Writer $24
Case: Fractal Design Define Mini Black Pearl MATX Case. $119

you dont need to set one ssd up as a raid drive. I have a 120g intel 520 on sabertooth mb it not set to raid mode. if you want to set it up in raid mode it simple. plug the ssd into port 0 on the sata 6g port on the mb put the hard drive on port 2 or higher. go into the bios and under sata ports set it to raid.
on boot up the intel raid chipset wil be on you get a message at post hit control i to enter intel soft raid set up. once your in the menu just follow the prompts. sel the right drive and raid mode.

Do not do this.
RAID 0 is limited to the size of the smallest drive, and the speed of the slowest drive. You'll be getting the worst of both devices.

Just use the Samsung for OS and applications, and the 1TB for mass storage.

So I connect both the drives to the motherboard at the start? Then I have to"set it in raid mode" Then I find raid? And install Windows on it.

nope in real world put both drives on intel or amd 6g sata port and set the sata port in the bios to achi mode. then put the windows cd or usb stick in your pc and install windows on the ssd.

nope you slow your ssd down. on newer mb sata chipset have three modes (ide for older os. achi mode for windows 7 and 8. and raid for people that want to make a server with lower cost mb.

This is correct. No RAID at all.

As far as the installation:
Connect only the SSD. Install Windows on it. After everything works, then connect the HDD.
