GPU not detected!

I've just purchased a second EVGA GTX 680 SC signature. After installing the card in the SLI setup(with connecting bridge), I booted up only to find the new card's fan going crazy. Furthermore, the card is not detected by windows. I then tried using only the new card and the problem persists. Fan blowing but GPU is not detected. I've also tried it in both PCI 3 slots and still no change.

My hardware is:

Intel 3770K
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
Corsair Vengeance 8Gb
Antec 900W psu.

I'm currently running windows 7 home premium.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Given what you've said, it would seem that the gfx card is defective, so my advice would be to rma your gfx card.

So there's no chance of this being a driver related problem?

I guess that's wishful thinking considering the my other card is exactly the same and works just fine.

Well, like I said, at first glance, given what you said, it seems to point towards a defective card. I could be wrong you know...
However, there were a few questions that came to mind after I replied:

What happens when you boot with just the problematic card?
Do you get any image at all?
Is it just on Windows you get the issue?
Do you get any error messages on bootup?

If it is only on Windows, then there is a chance that it may be driver related. Give us some more details if possible.

Unfortunately, I get absolutely no signal when I boot with the defect card. The only way get windows to work then is going via the mb. I tried old card in both PCI slots and they worked. Tried new card in both slots and neither worked.

I read elsewhere about someone with similar problems which turned out to be ram related. Meaning when booting up with only one stick it worked. I have yet to try it but I also think it's probably a defective card.
