Hey guys....sorry for the n00b question. I just got a new ASUS N500JV.

I recently purchased a Mushkin 240gb SSD, installed it in the original HD's place, and installed the original HD in a cradle in the optical drive bay. I cloned the C: partition over to the new SSD, so now I have Win 8 and all my programs on the new SSD, ready to go. New SSD is on drive letter E: FYI.

I understand that I have to use the Win 8 recovery tool to get the PC to boot from the new SSD, so, removed the old HD, and only had the SSD installed (in the main HD SATA slot) and tried to use a Win 8 recovery USB stick. I attempted the Win8 repair utility, it didnt work :-(

What are my options at this point?

Alright, so screw the cloning. I tried a fresh installation. Reformatted the new SSD, made a Win 8 recovery USB stick with the factory partition, removed the original HDD and booted from the USB stick.

Win 8 installation menu comes up, I try the RESET WIN8 (fresh install) and keep getting a message "drive partition is missing". Help!

My SSD is formatted, shows up on the PC as the E:/ drive, and I formatted as a bootable drive. I'm at a complete loss here...
