Acer ZG5 webcam drivers for Lubuntu/Xubuntu/Ubuntu

I bought this Acer Aspire One netbook ZG5 from a friend of mine. He had installed ubuntu 12.04 tls initially but due to the hardware specs it was quite heavy for the machine. So I went through a few Linux distros and finally ended up with Lubuntu 13.04

Everything seems great but I can't find drivers for the webcam to use with Skype that I managed to install (woohoo!).

I'm a beginner with Linux in general so I don't really know where to look. I've read that ubuntu comes with the drivers so I was wondering if there was a way to get them from ubuntu or does anyone have an idea as to where to find them?

Don't mind which method is used I'm happy to learn new stuff!

ps. it seems to have installed the microphone as well (says default device) but no webcam

According to the Ubuntu website this camera should work out of the box, is there a function key that you have to use to turn it on?

Not that I know of... I have a feeling that the camera is broken.

I've even reverted back to the recovery CD of the netbook. It's a version of Linpus Linux (other versions of Linux recognise it as Fedora 8 Werewolf) and even that didn't see a device for the webcam. I'm thinking that if the recovery CD that was designed specifically for that version of the netbook is not picking up a webcam it's probably broken.. there is no switch that I can see that enables it.. everything else works straight out of the box indeed

Try installing cheese to verify that camera works. I had a ZG5 and the camera does indeed work out of the box.

It's kinda hard to break a camera but not hard at all to have a cable come loose. If you or a friend are feeling adventurous you could open up the cover and check the cable (unplug and replug it in) or you could spend $5 for a new external camera which is safer if you don't know what you are doing inside the cover.
