NVIDIA card not detected after driver update attempt

When I was installing a driver update through NVIDIA GeForce Experience, I got an error from AVG saying that a threat was detected. Assuming it was just a bug on AVG's part, I decided to "ignore the threat." The installation wasn't able to continue, and it said that an NVIDIA gpu was not detected in my system. I tried again, and same result. I tried downloading the latest driver straight from NVIDIA's website instead of GFX, but got the same problem.

I have no idea how I'm supposed to fix this. Any ideas?

How about disabling AVG first? Or running the application as an administrator? All the jazz first. I hate nagging AVs.

Definately disable AVG and then do a manual search for the model of graphics card you have and the os. Download and install the update you selected with AVG disabled, just right click the icon in the task bar and disable it there.

Thanks, I disabled AVG and searched manually for the driver and it worked perfectly. I guess free stuff does have some downsides sometimes

I never use automatic detection software simply because if a mistake is made, I'd prefer it to be my mistake rather than some dumb program's. :D
