Xbox MTU Error?

So I am currently in a dorm room in university, so I have no access to the internet router... therefore I thought I would connect my xbox to the internet via Ethernet cable to my laptop (Windows 8) to share it's wireless internet connection. Let's just say I've tried multiple ways, but have settled on Bridging connections as it's fast and easy. So, I bridged the connection of the Ethernet cable and universities wireless, the xbox connects fine to the network but fails at the internet stage and gives me an MTU error. The university is apparently aware of this error and say on their guide to change the value on 'both network adapters'. I take this to be the Wireless Connection and the Ethernet cable? I therefore used the cmd prompt to change the MTU values of both of these to what xbox say on their site is appropriate, (1365) as well as the 'Network Bridge' they create when bridged. But I am still getting the MTU error when I test the connection on the xbox... I'm not sure what to do next... any help would really be appreciated!

Not sure where your problem could be. Perhaps you could try borrowing a wireless network adapter for the xbox from a friend? If you can connect to the network using that, note the network settings and then replicate those via the bridging solution?
