i have tried upgradeing the ram and harddrive in my desktop pc, the pc is detecting the ram. but when i first tried installing w7 on the disk in this pc it gave me a No boot disk has been detected or disk has failed. Error. So i took it to my other pc, installed w7 disk on it, just fine and thought if i put it in the gateway now, it should boot win7, but it gives me the same error. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

It's unlikely that the HDD will boot in your PC after you've installed the operating system elsewhere.

The best thing to do is install the HDD into your main PC, and ensure that BIOS detects the drive.
If it does, great. Then boot from the Windows 7 disc and select your drive when the option appears.

If BIOS doesn't detect your drive, flash the latest version.
Your board may be too old to support 6GB/s but who knows.

my bios did detect the hd, then i did put the w7 on the HD, and i made sure that it was a F: drive in my pc, and then again checked that it worked on boot.

the bios for the SX 2110 are pretty basic, compaired to my pc. so i am guessing that the D1F-AD motherboard in the pc doesnt support 6gb/s, is there a way i could use a 3gb cord ? or another solution around that, or just get the new motherboard and proceed from there.
