So i'm going to be getting a new gpu around christmas time, and have settled on the ASUS Radeon 7970, but I don't know which one to get.

DirectCU2 TOP (£221) : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-asus-radeon-hd-7970-directcu-ii-top-5600mhz-gddr5-1010mhz-2048-cores-4x-dp-dvi-d-dvi-i

Matrix Platinum (£260) : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-asus-radeon-hd-7970-matrix-platinum-6600mhz-gddr5-28nm-gpu-1050mhz-2048cores-4xdp-2xdl-dvi-plusf

I know the Matrix Platinum has a higher clock/memory speed but otherwise what is the difference?
And would it be worth the extra money?

Not really, it's only performance boots and to be honest you can do this yourself easily with GPU Tweak. Coming from an HD7970 DirectCU II owner, I don't think it's really worth it for another £39 just for higher speeds you can achieve yourself, some minor cooling differences and a glowing logo :p

Yup, and this card is VOLTAGE UNLOCKED without the GPUTweak Version 2.2.1.4. I have full control over my 7970, I use Trixx to pull past 1125MHz core to 1220Mhz and then ASUS GPUTweak to pull up the voltage to 1244mv

Go with the normal 309USD 7970.... You will be impressed drasticly, mine pulls further than the new 280X by almost 3000 in FireStrike. The ASUS 7970 DCU is not T version is sooo much better to me, since I have complete control of everything. Dont listen to the ignorant guys on Newegg, if they wanted to pull 1300MHz and 6GHz on mem then they should have researched before buying.

Yeh I agree, get the normal one and overclock it yourself, believe me, there no point wasting money on something you could've done in a few clicks
