upgrading from on-board graphics - dell inspiron 518

hi im looking to upgrade my old dell 518 with a new graphics card. i just want to know what kind of card i need to play some online games like LOL for example.

PS: I forgot to included the specs since i posted this at my work. so here they are,
-processor: pentium(R) dual core cpu e5200 @2.5ghz
-ram: 6gb
-system type: 32-bit OS windows vista home basic
-psu: 450w
-graphics: on-board intel g33/31 chipset

Unless you plan on replacing the psu, the best upgrade gpu you can put in is an HD 7750. Anything higher than that would require an auxilliary power connector and the stock psu will not handle that much load.

The stock PSU won't even handle a 7750 for long. Brand-In-A-Box computers are garbage for gaming. They're a great way to waste money though...lol

7750 only pulls 55w - stock psu should be fine.

will a 3.0 pcie x 16 work on my pc? how can i tell if it can work? i just want to make sure to research as much as i can just in case i buy the wrong part.
