Computer Specs

Basically do I have to worry about my CPU bottlenecking a graphics card if I upgrade and if it will bottleneck some cards what is the best I could upgrade too with wasting much money on performance I would never see.

Tried to ask elsewhere and well advising one to buy a new mobo, cpu and gpu just isn't helpful when one has a budget ;)

I'd like to run DA: Inquisition plus a lot of other games coming out on as high as settings as possible given my hardware.

Solution
You willing to overclock? Then I would say HD7950 for around $200. I had a 955BE matched with HD7850 and got a nice gain running the CPU @ 3.6GHz.

A 650ti would be as "high end" as I would go with that processor. I have a 940 BE pared with a 560ti, most of the bottle necks I see are on the CPU.

If you don't need an immediate upgrade I might wait until they come out with a 700 series equivalent, or whatever AMD has coming down the pipe as you may be able to get a better graphics card for around the same money.

Thanks for the answers so far. I am willing to do some "safe" overclocking after I've done some reading, especially since I've never pushed it and have always had good temps and such when I check so I think there is a safe overhead there that I haven't come close to pushing (if it's not obvious enough I know just enough to get me into trouble with computers as they like to say) As for the date of purchase it could be anywhere between next week and a couple of months down the road, kinda depends on whether a car get sold quickly and/or when I save up the monies but hopefully soon.

Now lets say even if I got a more powerful card, say because it was a good deal or maybe with just an eye to the future would having the bigger card lead to a worse performance or would it's power just be wasted?

That's so nice to hear!
I'm looking at my nice old box, with 7870, plenty big PSU (750W, yaa?), 8Gig DDR3, running Win7 64 ... and a dear, venerably old Athlon II 630 humming along at 3.5GHz.
And yes, darned rights the CPU is bottleneck. But the lovely MoBo is AM3. So I'm kinda cornered.

After looking around, I fgured Phenom II 955 ...
... and lookie here! You do too!

real happy to read this thread
thanks
