Does Hyper Threading Act As Cores?

I ask this because upcoming games are rumored to use more cores and I wanted to know if Hyper Threading will be used to achieve better performance.

Solution
It does and more common with the i3s than the i7s, but games will use HT but ive only seen better performance with i3s. My bro in laws 2600k shows almost no use on the hyper threaded cores in bf3

In games that take advantage of more that 4 cores, Intel's Hyper Threading will help. Simply put, every physical core has two logical processors, so 4 cores/8 threads. A game like Crysis 3 can use more than 4 cores/processors.

Essentially, if a game in the future takes advantage of more than 4 cores, you can usually expect it to take advantage of intel's hyper threading..

But be aware that some games will get worse performance with Hyperthreading turned on including stuttering frame rates.

I friend of mine built a i7 back in January when I built my i5. Since then he has had to turn HT off in the BIOS to be able to play most of his games. Turning the $100 more he spent on his i7 into a i5 that I got for a $100 less.

This is definitely true. Each game is coded differently and takes advantage of the available resources in different ways. Vishalestro also had a good point. The vid was good info.
