Windows 8 connects to internet, but does not detect my network?

So I seem to have encountered a problem that is the inverse of some people's complaints about WIndows 8: I am able to access the internet through my wireless network, but it does not detect that the network actually exists, nor any other device on it.

I initially discovered the issue by attempting to stream music from my PC to my Xbox 360, which I had been able to do in previous weeks with no issue. For some reason, today I am unable to do so... because the PC- or, more accurately, my desktop- does not appear on the list of network devices.

I took this as a sign to investigate the Network & Sharing Center on my PC, only to find that it says that I am "currently not connected to any networks," despite the fact that I'm posting this from my PC.

Thus far, I've restarted my router- the standard 2wire model that comes standard with AT&T internet- uninstalled and reinstalled my network driver, disabled auto-connect and reconnected to my network, and attempted to update my drivers. I have observed in the Network & Sharing Center that when I am in the initial connection process for my network (identifying), it detects that the network exists, but as soon as it secures the connection, it informs me that I am not connected to any networks. I am unable to connect to any VPN's (used for pseudo-LAN gaming) either.

I tried this, but it doesn't seem to have done anything. My actual connection is fine, at least in theory; it just suddenly doesn't detect the network itself or any devices on it.
