Hi there,
I'm currently in the process of building a gaming computer and was pretty sure that the i5 4670k would be fine as games only really use quad core up to this point. I was a little unsettled to learn that watch dogs which is the game I'm half building this computer for recommends an octa core cpu to max it. WIll the I5 be alright or should I go for the i7 or even an amd 8 core. Are the AMDs the same as intel in that they are a 4 core with HT to make 8? Money is an issue and I'd really prefer not to have to throw another hundred dollars on the cpu unless it is completely necessary.
Thanks for any help you are able to privide

No the AMD 8 core CPU's are much much closer to true 8 core CPU's than intel. The FX CPU's share some aspects but are real close to true 8 cores. The intel on the other hand is 4 cores/4 fake cores. And Hyperthreading can hurt the performance of some games.

If you want to go intel I would go for the i5 3570k or i5 4670K and not the i7.

Personally a FX-8350 fitted with a good GPU can keep up with the intel i5 with no problem what so ever. I have a FX-8120 and FX-8350 based rig and they both can handle all of my games every bit as good as my i5 3570K can with no problems at all.

Thanks Byron,
I plan on getting a gtx 780 so it'll be fine on the graphics side of things, my concern is where's or not an i5 4670k will be able to run watch dogs maxed out?
