I am going to be making a new system and want to know if cloning is the way to go. I have a 500gb wd green with 300gb used and am going to get a 500gb samsung 840 evo ssd. I want to know what software to use and which ones are better than others

I just installed a Samsung 840 Pro in the system in my sig. I used the Samsung "Data Migration" software to clone my C: drive and the SRP (System Reserved Partition) to my new SSD. As recommended above, a clean install is always best but I have been totally satisfied with my cloned...

A clean install is best, but if you decide to try cloning Ghost 15, True Image, EaseUS Todo and others all work well.

If you do clone, insure that your SSD partition is properly aligned. Read THIS and Google "partition offset alignment" to understand why and how to align. A clean install will be properly aligned.
