ezz all

system spec is
xp sp3,amd athlon ii x4 640, 4gb ram on an asus m4a78lt and 450w psu .not a beast by any means but only really gets used for audio apps and a bit of occasional gaming

anyway, I installed a radeon hd5450 a couple of days ago, the card ran fine for a few days and then crashed, pixelated screen and vertical blue lines.

Ive tried uninstalling all the drivers (all up to date), catalyst control, removing the card, rebooting, reinstalling the card. When doing this the display is still pixelated, blue vertical lines appear again through the windows logo and it then goes black and wont go to the desktop.

it runs fine on the bog standard card that came with the machine so its not the cables or monitor. Im pretty sure its not over heating as the machine was only on for about 10 minutes when it happened, and like i said it worked fine for a couple days previously

ive tried looking at solutions for device driver infinite loop & at12dvag issues, mostly they talk about uninstalling/replacing drivers/catalyst control which hasnt made any difference

is it likely the card is faulty or have i missed something really obvious ?

anyone ?

ive also tried disabling 'enable write combining'

and updated the bios

this seems to have been quite a common problem and ive gone through suggested fixes on here but none seem to work

any help massively appreciated. im bored now

I would say that the card itself is defective. Send it back. I had problems with my new Radeon HD 7870XTs and I worked on them for days, hoping to discover the problem. I returned them to NCIX (luckily I have a store near my home), they tested them and ordered me two new ones. The fact is, if the card worked initially, then all your computer settings are just fine. The card itself failed. Return it for a new one, you won't have any problems.

Sorry to only reply now, if I had seen this thread earlier, I would have responded immediately.
