Hi there,

So I purchased a ssd at my local gaming expo yesterday and an trying to install it now. I have got a 2TB and the 128GB ssd. I am trying to use the ssd as my OS, and the rest on the other hdd.

However, whenever I try install the OS, it gives me an error of 'I/O device error' so I tried using diskpart to clean and partition the drive, it worked but said I could not install GDP (I think it is that) on the uefi system?

No when I try and go back and reclean or repartition the drive, it won't let me saying 'could not be performed because of an I/O device error.'

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Thats OK.

So you have the SSD plugged into port 1 SATA 6Gb, the white ports?
In BIOS, under advanced, SATA mode is AHCI.
Check BOOT MENU and make sure DVD/HDD are selected.
Nowe into BOOT DEVICE priority bar and set it to DVD 1st, HDD 2nd ....

Yours is a UEFI BIOS, so is pictorial, manual explains it well.

If all above done, boot of your DVD install, then when Windows desktop comes up, shutdown and plug your 2nd drive in, 2nd white socket.

Opticals should be in the last one of the black ports.

I have already done that for the past hour. I have checked and it has the latest firmware, it was formatted so now I do not know how to get the firmware back on? But it is not picking the ssd up in the bios, only the disk manager and even there I cannot create a partition

Double check that your SATA and power cables are firmly connected to the SSD and motherboard (for the SATA). They are easily dislodged and will cause such errors. das_stig is spot on, for installing the OS, only the SSD should be connected until successfully installed. Then, reconnect the HDD.

I think so, I haven't touched any settings, but now it is going into the bios, it won't run to the ssd and say "no OS found"...
Mobo: MSI h77ma g43
CPU: i7 3770k 3.5ghz
Ram: 12gb corsair
Storage (128gb ssd, the issue one) and 4TB hdd space
