Questions About Fan Mounts And Dust Filters

I just finished my first build a month ago with the Antec 900 case. I used third party dust filters with the 2 intake fans. They were starting to get pretty dusty. I realized it would be a hassle to open the computer every month to clean it. So I shot some compressed air through the fans and dust filters from the outside. But I think this just pushed the dust off the filter and into the computer. So are these dust filters useless because they are not easily removable? Should I just remove them?

Also, after I added the dust covers to the plastic fan mounts, I could not get them to clip back to the drive bays. I knew I was trying to put them on correctly, so I tried pushing really hard. Each fan mount had 4 plastic clips on it, they all got bent and 1 broke off before I realized what was going on. It was too thick with the dust cover on. I got it to stay on with a little creativeness. But will having 1 clip broken and the rest bent cause the fan to vibrate more, and shorten its life and/or slow its speed?

your other option is to use something like these...

which appear to have snap on covers overtop the bracket which mounts to the fan or outside of the case. in this way you just pop off the cover and clean the filter.

some cases also have slide out filters.

of course you dont need to use dust filters. just periodically clean your case with compressed air (from a can not from an air compressor) when you notice any dust building up.
i would not say they are useless but they do require some effort to clean them. you want to blow from the inside of the case outwards to push the dust out in the direct which it came from and not the other way around as you have done. it also wouldnt be a bad idea to spray the inside of the case with compressed air every other month or so to keep residual dust down.

photos of the broken parts and how everything mounts would be helpful. just post to tinypic if you dont have an image hoster of choice.

the fan rpm will not change but it could have more vibration which could lead to more noise and possibly lower life expectancy but not by much. again post photos cant say without seeing.

I can't shutdown my computer, disconnect the cables, take it out of the desk, open it, and clean it every month for the dust filters, I just don't have time. Would it be best to:

a. Clean the dust filters by blowing air in from the outside
or
b. Remove the dust filters and not use them.

Thank you.
