This is my current laptop:

Right now it has an AMD Athlon M320, which is not soldered on. I was wondering if I could replace it with an AMD Phenom II N960 Quad Core processor.

Thanks!

No. What you have is a Socket S1 Gen 3. That one is a Socket 1 Gen 4. You need to find a CPU that will work in a Socket 1 Gen 3. Even though they are the same number of pins and the same socket will fit it will not work. The pin layout for each gen is different. So gotta find a Socket 1 Gen 3 CPU.

Thanks for the info! Just one question though, how do I find out socket types?

You can search your CPU on this site here.

http://www.cpu-world.com/

and in the list it will tell you if if its Socket 1 Gen Number (s1gX) is what it will say.

The easy thing to do is find the CPU in question and just google it and then look for the listing of the CPU on this site and it will tell you. thats all i did.
