Hello, I've been having a problem with my computer for a while and is really bothering me. A few days ago my mouse stopped working as I played a steam game, I tried to disconnect it and connect in all my other USB ports but none of them worked. Interestingly enough, it does show to be detected in Devices and says that is functioning properly, but the pointer nor left or right click work. The only 'solution' I have found is to restart my laptop, but after a while it stops working again.

I've tried everything: virus scan, updating the drivers, deleting the USB drivers to then restore them, the un-checking the allow power management in the USB Root Hub. Even Restoring the system before the problem occurred.

To rule out the problem being the mouse, I connected another (Which left click doesn't work, but the pointer works) and asked my sister to try the one that I was using. At the end the new mouse still failed to work after a while and after 1 hour, the one handed to my sister still worked

Update: Same problem even in safe mode, sometimes varies from 2 hours to five minutes.

I leave my specs down, and thank you if you can contribute with something

Model: Sony Vaio VPCEH38FN
OS: Window 7 x64
Intel Core i5-2450M Processor 2.50 Ghz
RAM:4 Gb
Mouse:Microsoft Optical Mouse 100

[strike]I think I found a solution for 1 hour the mouse has worked swiftly without random lags or disconnections. I've read that this problem has been caused by the MotionJoy drivers, but I've uninstalled them some time ago. But I went to again on device manager ->View->Show Hidden devices. And I found some 'ghost' drivers that read MotionJoy, I deleted them. It works now I hope it works for someone else.[/strike]

Forget it. An hour latter and it happened again. I don't think the problem are the drivers. Is it my laptop's mobo?

You could try Control panel - System - Power Options - Change plan settings - Change advanced power settings - USB settings - USB selective suspend settings - Disable them!!!

There are also more settings under Device Manager - USB Generic USB hubs - right click - Properties - Power Management and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' - perhaps those are the ones you already tried?

I do not know if one overrides the other.
