Windows 7 Sudden Freezes ! Need Help !

I have 320 GB HDD, 2GB RAM, Core 2 duo @ 1.3 GHz netbook. I have Ubuntu on a 40 gb partition and windows 7 in the rest. Out of 320 gb just 17 gb is free.
I made a huge mistake of installing 64 bit win7 on this 2gb ram machine.
Now whenever i watch a movie or play a game on win7, i encounter sudden pauses/freezes for a millisecond or so. And these pauses are very frequent. Is there any way except formatting my pc which can reduce this freeze ? PLz need help here! Is ubuntu causing the problem ?

  1. Are the Windows 7 video drivers current? If you don't know, I suggest the following link:

    http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics

This is not an Ubuntu issue, BTW.

    Good luck!

but still, does installing 64 bit os on 32 bit machine cause this problem ?
  3. i have an nvidia geforce g105m ... so nothing to do with intel gfx
  4. Understood. Most netbooks use the integrated intel video.

Your Nvidia drivers can be found here:

The 64-bit version is not the problem, you can't install a 64-bit OS on an only 32-bit system.

Could be something as simple as a chipset driver in Windows. Make sure all are up to date.
