Disabling second HDD to save power

I have a laptop with a primary SSD (for OS and all programs, etc) and a HDD which I only use to store my music collection. As I only access my music occasionally, I want the HDD to be "turned off" (or as near as possible to "turned off") the majority of the time until I need to access it. I know I can enable/disable it in in Disk Manager, but that is a long winded way. I can also set disk to turn off after 1 min in Advance Power Manager - is this the best way to do it. By the way, the reason I want to do this is to conserve power (and stop irritating HDD noise).

Setting the disk to turn off in the advanced power manager is the best way.

1. Disable Indexing on the drive.
2. Disable the antivirus from scanning the drive
3. Make sure auto defrag is shut off as well.

These services will wake the drive.

I assume in my case only the HDD will turn off (after a min of 1 minute of inactivity) as this setting isn't applicable to SSD. If you have multiple HDDs, then there is no way to select which ones (it will apply to all).
