I recently had a new system built and the ram installed was standard 1600mhz CL 11 ram. I would like know which one would be better to buy? I want to have 32gb total, I need low profile ram because my CPU coolmaster V6GT blocks the first ram stick, so in the case of gskill I would need to remove the top heat spreader fin on one stick. Thanks for any suggestions. My motherboard is the MSI Z87 G45 Gaming board

I'm not sure if I should go with a low CAS latency (crucial) or faster MHZ (gskill) I'm going to want to over clock a little bit eventually...they both are about the same price, Thank you

Solution
Of those two, go with the GSkill, Tridents are great sticks, been using them pretty exclusively for client and my own builds for over a year now

Thank you, I was leaning more towards the gskill and this confirmed my selection

Hey Tradesman,
32gb gskill trident 2400mhz ram is heading my way very soon. One last question > my cpu cooler is the coolmaster V6GT which has two 120mm fans on it. I was wondering what you thought about taking one of the fans that is blocking the first ram stick and putting it on the top of the case blowing out instead of blowing on the cpu cooler? This may be a bad idea, have not tested temps, what do you think?

Could prob try it, but generally the fan blowing in on the fins is what gets the best production over the one pulling, might even try having the fan in back be the push, never tried so not sure, if you do give it a go, post up and let us know how it works ;)

I may end up just taking one of the trident fins off, the cooler operates so well as is, it's hard to justify modifying the CPU cooler

ok I got the ram in and it appears to be working. But it was a serious pain to do. I tried taking the fin off one of them and and it offset the entire heat spreader. Then after taking the entire heat spreader apart, I had to line it up and put it back together. By this time I thought for sure I had destroyed the stick. Long story short, their all in and working, now I'm going to go take some anti-anxiety medication...Thanks again for your most helpful assistance...

best,
