Ok so I just built my new pc a few weeks ago.
Intel i5 Haswell
gtx 760 4 gig card FTW series
1 tb hard drive western digital blue
gigabyte ud3h mobo
8 gig G skill mem ddr3 1600
corsair cx750 PSU
windows 8 64 bit

Now when I open up my device manager. Under my Display Adapters. I have a yellow ! icon next to my Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) is the code I'm getting when I open it up. I go to drivers and try to update drivers. It says windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.

I have this in events for Driver service added (BasicDisplay) information tab -

Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service BasicDisplay for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0412&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_06\3&11583659&0&10 with the following status: 0.

And then for Device Installed (display.inf) information tab -

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver display.inf_amd64_d24451a906e1cbbb\display.inf for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0412&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_06\3&11583659&0&10 with the following status: 0x0.

Then I go to resources and it says Resource settings: This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem.

Any one have any idea as to why this is popping up in Device Manager??

That's the on-chip graphics in the Haswell processor. I'd suggest simply installing the Intel HD Graphics drivers for it (from Intel's website). You could probably disable it in BIOS setup instead but I think there are a few beneficial features you can get from having it enabled with the drivers installed even if you're not actually using it for graphics. (I think it may enable accelerated video playback and encoding, for example.)

What other adapters do you see under Dispaly Adapter? You should see your 760. If that is All you see and then the Basic Display Adapter then that is the onboard intel HD video thats on the i5. Might want to go here

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/

and get the right drivers for that.

Is there just a direct link to a download??? It's not letting me get the new drivers getting frustrated... When I try to update drivers thru Device Manager it says drivers are up to date... What options do I choose in the drop down menus to get to latest drivers??

Whatvis your CPU? If you google your CPU then go to the intel ljnk which is usually the first it will tell you specs and what intell HD grapics you have (2500, 3000, 4000, 4400 ect) then use the link i gave you and select desktop graphics - HD model - version of windows

This may be associated with Win8.1 My system was built several years back and worked fine with XP Pro. I upgraded to Win 8 first of all with no issues. After upgrading to 8.1 I started having issues; mainly freezing of the video every 20 - 30 seconds for about 4 - 5 seconds [streaming music sometimes also stutters]. The problem was temporarily fixed after an apparent windows auto update, but them resumed again after another update. A system scan by the manufacturer of my installed card; a Quadro FX; reports it is functioning correctly with the latest driver. I disabled the driver for the basic display adapter but the problem persists.
Since the problem did not exist before the Win 8.1 install and I had temporary relief after an auto update I would assume the problem is with Windows and we need to ask them to fix it.
