I hope this the right forum as I think I might need a sound card to do this properly.

Alright so I use my ps3 through my monitors hdmi in, and get the sound from the headphone jack on my monitor and merge it with the audio coming from my pc (via a belkin rockstar) to allow me use stuff like TeamSpeak or Skype while gaming on the ps3. But I am considering getting a 5.1 headset (Roccat Kave) and want to be able to get surround sound from the ps3 and be able to play games and use skype etc on the pc in suround sound without having to swap any cables.

Is this possible? how do I do it? what do I need get to get?

Edit: I was hoping to be able to get the surround sound from the ps3 and play it through the 5.1 audio output on my pc merging the sound of ps3 and pc in the heaset.

1) The PS3 will support 5.1 if the game does.
2) If you use the audio out on the Monitor it will only do Stero (2.0)
3) I have a turtle beach x41 that does 5.1 and it has imputs for SPDIF (Optial) and RCA (The Red and White ports) But it can only do one source or the other not both.

You can hook up your new setup with out changing any cables but you wont get your surround sound. If it has multipule inputs then you can hook your PS3 into one and your PC into another. Thats about it.
