I've been building a new computer and just got windows 7 professional for it. I'm using a Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB new out of the box.
When I've tried to instal windows it gives me a message "Windows cannot be installed to this disk.(Show Details)."

I clicked on show details.
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
In bios the disk is in #1 priority in the MSi BIOS II menu.
When I clicked on advanced setting to the disk it said "setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information.

Solution
check in the bios that your sata chipset set to achi mode. look to see that the drive connected to intel or amd ports. some mb have a second set of sata ports for data drives. look on wd web site if they give a third party formating tool. also it could be a bug with aft formating of the hard drive if it has a 4k partion. some older windows install disk might not see the drive.
