More about amd radeon 8850 amd radeon 7730
  1. The 7730 will struggle to play games at 1080p and the 8850 is over 30% stronger:http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1484&gid2=863&compare=radeon-hd-8850m-2gb-gddr5-vs-radeon-hd-7730m
But the 2nd Laptop does have a Quad and games are starting to take full advantage of quad-core systems.
It`s a tough call but I would go with the 1st one. Yes it only has 2 cores but the Hyper-threading will help in games, the GPU is stronger and with that 720p resolution you will have a easier time maxing games out.

Well in that case, if you were to use software that would tax the CPU heavily, the 2nd laptop will be a better choice. The larger resolution will also help with coding (1366x768 is absolute garbage at a productivity level)
It will be quite a bit weaker at gaming but it`s up to you.

    Thanks.
  5. The HD8000 series was just an OEM rebrand of the 7000 series, so that 8850 is really just a 7850 with a new badge slapped on. It will outperform a 7730 by a fair deal, they are a performance tier (within the AMD lineup) apart.
