Hi, here are my specs

- Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4Ghz
- 4gb Ram DDR2
- Asus P5n-E sli Motherboard
- 600w PSU
- Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 graphics card

As you can see my system is a bit dated, but I want to boost my FPS in games. I really have my eye on - MSI Radeon HD 7970 Twin Frozr OC Boost Edition R7970 TF 3GD5/OC BE Video Card

Will this work with my system? Thanks in advance.

If the motherboards pci express slot is 1.1 or higher and 16x you should be able to just plug in and go without any significant performance loss its all backward compatible.

The Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 graphics card I have in now which seems to work fine is specced at 2.0 according to the site. So if that works I assume its 2.0.

Will I have to worry about bottlenecking though?

Thanks in advance!

im by no means an expert but i found this thread.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/358350-33-express-c...

seems this guy wanted to know if the 7770 which is 3.o would go into the 1.1 motherboard like yours.

Interesting, so looks like an almost unnoticeable amount of bottle necking. Assuming the 7770 is not that much older then the 7970 (sorry I dont keep up on these things) Thanks for the info!

the graph on that thread actuallly uses the 7970 as an example you will only lose like 3% performance.
