Syncing my Ipod Classic

I recently bought a new HP computer with Windows 8 installed. I purchased a song on Itunes and when I went to sync the new song to my Ipod, my new computer is not seeing my Ipod at all and can't sync new song onto the Ipod at all. Is there anything you can buy to make the Ipod classic compatible with Windows 8?

If the unit isn't being detected, iTunes may need to be reinstalled, or you may not be on the latest iTunes version. I have an old 5th gen 60GB iPod Classic and Windows 8 (and now 8.1 as well) detect it just fine.

Thanks for your response but I just downloaded the most recent Itunes download, and still no luck ---think I need to delete it and reinstall?

Definitely. Completely uninstall iTunes, as they load their own drivers for the iPod. Without them, it either won't be detected at all when plugged into a Windows machine, or it will only be seen as a USB storage device.

Again, thanks for your help again. My ipod actually shows up now but there is still a sync problem---I did the tests and the last Device Sync Test says "no ipod touch, iphone or ipad found". Of course this is an Ipod classic not one of the above. How did you get around this problem?

I didn't get around it because I never ran into it. I plug in my Classic and after a few seconds, iTunes loads and shows me the device. I don't want to sync anything to it, but I have the option immediately.

Thanks for your help - I'm thinking I may have the wrong firmware for my Ipod and may need to update it. Trying to get help on the apple support forums now.
