im building a new pc and i am wanting to replace the stock fans. i bought the fractal arc midi r2. the case can hold 2 front 120/140mm fans, 1bottom 120/140mm, 1exhaust 120/140mm, 3 top 120/140mm.

now ive been looking around a lot and have settled on 2 brands, the noctua and corsair af series. but what im having a hard time with is what one to get. i love the noctua brand, but the price is about 25$ a fan, while the corsair is 18$ for a pair.

im not a stickler for appearance so the noctua dont bother me with the brownish color. while the corsair have a basic look to them which i also love.

lastly is the size, i know most go with the 120mm for obvious reasons of it will fit into just about any case. but the 140mm can move a lot more air at lower speeds. and knowing i can get a few 140s for my case ill go with those.

what i had inmind was either the

or the

yes i know the noctua fans are nearly 5-8 dollars more per fan over the corsair but reading the reviews the performance of the noctua are worth it.

No, Noctua isn't worth it when it comes to case fans.

Since your case supports 140mm everywhere, get 140mm. They're quieter and move more air. Quieter because they can spin slower and still move the same amount of air a 120mm would.

Truth be told, case fans don't have much impact on temperatures, so as long as they can move air around (and are quiet) they're fine. I have 7 fans which have 80+ CFM each at full power and over 3.0 static pressure, and changing them from full power to low has no effect on temperature. By "low" I mean setting them to Low on my fan controller, which should have them with around 30 CFM each.
