Hi All,

This is for a friend of mine. While there were some very good suggestions in the stickies, our parts and prices in Aussie are a bit different so I wanted to run this by someone. I'm pretty much limited to one website to get decent prices over here, see PCCASEGEAR link below.

Approximate Purchase Date: this week

Budget Range: $500-$600 before shipping.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Microsoft office, Internet browsing, storing/viewing/editing photos.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: just the case and internal hardware (not keyboard, mouse, monitor)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: http://pccasegear.com/

Location: Melbourne/Sydney

Parts Preferences: no preference

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1024x768

Additional Comments: n/a

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: current is 7 years old and getting too slow.

This is what they were looking at:

Here is my current idea:

I have recommended an external HDD for storing the many thousands of photos they have.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and suggestions.

hmmm, while reading that review I was slightly put off by the noise under load and "replace after a few years" comments, Although it would probably never break a sweat in this build.

This one seems possibly better for only $3 more: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_547&products_id=25250
I wonder if the psu is this one: http://hardwareinsights.com/wp/seasonic-ssp-350gt-review/4/ - excellent review.

any thoughts? or would you still prefer your Antec Basiq choice? it would only be another $13 for that case/psu you selected, but separate supplier, might mean extra shipping...
