File Sharing across network

I am having troubles in the shop since we had to update to Win 7 in order to run a CAD program.

With WinXP, we were able to share files between computers and send the files to the various mold machines in the shop that in turn execute programs to cut molds. However, with Windows 7, I am having difficulty getting files to copy between Win XP to/from Win 7 boxes , Win 7 to Win 7, and Win 7 to the machines. My workaround is to put files up on a network share and then pull them from a Win XP machine to copy them to the mold machines. Would like to cut out all the extra steps and get the files directly from Win 7 to mold machines.

For instance, there is one mold machine that I have no problem connecting to with XP. When a new connection is required, (because coworkers delete shortcuts without checking what they delete) I can enter the appropriate userID/password combo to open up a shared folder and therefore pass all the files I need to start a job. If I do the same task on Win 7 to create a shortcut to the shared folder on the mold machine, the userID/password combo fails.

All nodes are on the same subnet. Mold machine mentioned has a type of Win NT client installed. (Yes, it’s an old machine, but works well.)

Are there some specific settings I’m missing? Are there some group policies to be changed?

BTW, winXP would connect to the mold machines whether in a workgroup or in the domain.

Any suggestions? -Thanks

Problem solved with regards to sharing between WinXP and other Win7 machines. Now I just need to be able to talk to the mold machines. . . . which won't happen till morning when they are turned up.

What did you do to solve the connection problems between the WinXp Win7 Machines ?
What's the remaining issue with the mold machines ?
Have you tried making a connection with "net use ..." ?
(If the mold machines are based on NT4, it should work)
