Help with Build $3,500

Solution
its a gaming rig. there should be nothing on any rig that does nothing about changing performance throw into the mix

get this

-funny thing is that the 6 cores perform worse in games
-not a crappy liquid cooler
-use 2 dimms instead of 4
-higher end SSDs are barely faster. total waste of time
-unless you can actually use 3tb, dont bother with a 3tb drive
-get the R9 290x when it comes out
-stupid sized case for the crappy little watercooler you are putting inside. forget it. that case is purely for custom loops (if you want to do that given your budget, its not a bad idea)
-unless you have 300 dollar headphones, forget the essence STX
-stupidly overkill psu. a 850w will power all of that with ease
-better...

Might look at the Asus X79 Deluxe, it's a new 2011 model, along with the 4930K CPU also new or jump up to the 4960K (very pricy), for a cooler might look at the CM GTS V8, popped one in my Haswell and very happy, am looking to the build mentioned above (with the 4930K (have heard they OC better than the 4960K)) for myself

Yeah but if you're gaming it would be better to spend a bit less on your system, get a nice mechanical keyboard and a couple of ultra wide (2560 x 1080) or ultra high res (2560 x 1440) monitors to match the rig. Maybe do something like this:

That leaves you $1K left over from your budget. Use it for a nice mechanical keyboard, mouse, and a nice ultra wide monitor like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005548

Why do you need a blu-ray player, i7 or a sound card? Watching blu rays is more of a pain than it's made out to be. I definitely agree about getting a 290X though.
