I have one unused cable on my semi-modular power supply and I want to try and use it. The cable is a female cable with 4 slots for pins to go into. The 4 slots are in a 2x2 or square arrangement and I was hoping I could convert it into a power cord for my dvd drive (which I believe is called a SATA Power Cable?).
Thank you.

Is it just a molex you wish to convert?

They have an adapter for that.

You CAN make your own cable with the proper plugs assuming you have at least 12 and 5 volt lines in the wire you wish to use(3.3 is optional and I have never seen it required.).

2x2 is most likely an ATX12V CPU power connector. All it would provide is +12V.

SATA would require +12V, +5V and +3.3V. The +3.3V isn't always required.
