So i just OC'ed a CPU for the first time ever using MSI's OC Genie too see if i can run BF4 any better and it seems to be a lot better. However my volts seems to have gone up more then i thought it would. Currently Running a 2500k from 3.3 to 4.2, but my voltage is up to 1.36. I don't know anything about OC'ing since this is why i used genie but that seems a little high from what I have read. Is it too high? Oh My temps seem to be around about 60 degrees.

If the cpu isnt overheating which 60c at load isnt bad for an i5, its safe as long as long term doesnt over heat, u could prob manually lower it to like 1.3v and still be fine. I used the msi genie thing on my Phenom II and trusted its settings, and same with my crosshair IV it did my 3.7ghz on my x6, but for the phenom series 1.25-1.35 is avg voltage where that i5 could def go lower

the only damage that can be done with voltages is if the cpu overheats or if well u overvolt by alot lol. Temps seem fine if 60c is under load, and u can prob lower the voltage from 1.36 to 1.3 by just going into the bios, and start slowly to find the lowest point at ur current oc, all it will do is not boot or bsod and reset no harm will be done.

I only ran it at 1.36v for like 5mins and it stayed at 60 degrees. I heard that you get a pretty good OC just on stock volts with a 2500k, this not true? Altho I also heard some require more volts then others for the same OC.

well the stock volts varies as when the board is at stock, the motherboard has the cpu voltage set to auto so will use less voltage when no load is under the cpu and as much as it needs under load of course under its spec'd limit. If 60c was ur idle temp then u have an issue, and most likely ur using the stock cooler

okay so 60c was gaming for how long? and cpu load was 80-95%? If then, at 100% u are probably safe as u will rarely reach 100% and if u do temps wont be much higher, if u dont have a problem with the temps or anything, everything is safe and should be fine.

If the volts automatically jumped to that and you are running nice and cool(60 is good under load) then you will be just fine keeping it like that.
