which cpu would be better? i know that intel is usually the better cpu and that the new chip is really good, but i also know that the 8350 is an 8 core cpu that comes stock at 4 ghz. and isn't next gen gaming going to take advantage of multi cores?

You already answered your own question. You already have an AMD motherboard. The choice is therefore simple. You can get an FX-8350 (which is an awesome CPU btw) or you can buy a new motherboard (probably with less features than you already have) and pay even more again for an Intel CPU. To me, the choice seems obvious, the FX-8350.

ya lol i have no doubt at all that an i7 would outperform, but the i7's are like literally twice the amount of the 8350 and also in my situation i have an amd only mb, so if i were to switch over to intel i would also have to buy a new mb

If you're not so willing to throw too much money into it, go with the 8350, the difference in games won't be so noticeable. You can buy a 30$ aftermarket cooler (coolermaster EVO) to easily overclock your cpu to like 4.5-4.8.

Actaully at microcenter i7 4770k went on sale for $270 which is only $70 more. You have to go in store for the dealas

Go with the 8350. The GPU is going to be doing most of the work and the 8350 can overclock much higher than the i5 and has much better threaded performance.
