Alfa AWUS036NHA in Backtrack 5 r3

I recently installed Backtrack 5 r3 on my Dell laptop along with Windows 8. When i plug in my Alfa AWUS036NHA adapter it does nothing (no blinking lights) I tried the ifconfig command and it does not show up. I thought this adapter was plug and play but not for me. I can't find a linux driver for it either, any suggestions?

Hello,

The chipset for that adapter is Atheros AR9271, you need to download the driver for that. Backtrack 5 is based off ubuntu 10.04, Download and install the driver from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ath9k-htc/files/ath9k_htc-installer/

Reboot and you should be good to go.
