Hi so I'm new to Linux and am trying to put Ubuntu on a Presario 6000. So i burned Ubuntu onto a DVD and put it in the optical drive, but it keeps saying Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready. I'm not sure what to do because still trying to learn more about computers and operating systems. Thanks so much :)

When you say you "burned Ubunto onto a DVD" did you just copy the ISO onto the DVD or did you use a utility to actually write the image onto the disk. I hope I am not insulting your intelligence but this is a common mistake. You cannot just copy the .iso file onto the disk.

I right clicked on the Iso and burned the disc image. Not sure if this would be considered copying or not... And it's okay because i truly do not know much, i'm still trying to learn. :)

What you did should have worked. First thing I would do is burn another disk. I seems like you did everything correctly, but just to make sure something did not go wrong with the burning process, I would do the same thing over again. Blank DVD's do not cost much, and it shouldn't take to long. Also, I would use a third party burner to do this. What you did should have worked, but Microsoft's built in image burner is not the best. I would use:

Burn the image again and try the disk.
