So, I have 64GB RAM and nothing better to do in my off-hours. I bet it's possible, because it sounds like it would work (RAM is visible in BIOS, and therefore there should be a way to access it as well as use it before booting), but at the same time, I haven't seen any videos of people booting from a RAM disk (cuz ya know, everyone on teh interwebz has 30GB of RAM free for Windows 7).

Also, sometimes I actually use this RAM... all of it... for certain things. Would there be a way to dual boot? As in, for gaming -when I only really need around 8GB of RAM- I can boot from the RAMDisk and when working I can boot from my SSD and have all 64GB free?

It depends on what software you are using.
Photo editing you can usually set it as your scratch drive.
For video editing you should already have seperate source and destination drives, if the system isn't already using all your ram then a scratch drive here could help too.

again, this all depends on the software you are using.

I have heard of people keeping the RAM active even when a board is shut down somehow.

Another question I have then is what is the use of RAMDisk and how can it benefit me? I work with video editing and photo editing.

I have a 2 GB Ramdrive that I use for Firefox cache. If there is any caching of your photos and videos during editing, you may be able to benefit from the faster speed of a Ramdrive.

Makes sense.

I use photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, Vegas, etc. Probably gonna start working with Avid soon.
