No Video Input/Check Signal

Having spent the most of yesterday building my PC, I finally finished it, so I decided to turn it on to see if it powered on. Everything worked fine - fans and LEDs were working etc, so I decided to hook up a monitor, and that's where the problems start.

No matter what display cable I attach to the PC to the monitor, I get "No Signal" on the monitor. I did however, manage to get the BIOS to display on the screen after I reinstalled the power cables into the Graphics card, but it said "CPU Fan error" so I decided to turn it off and move the CPU fan cable into the next socket. Start up, and I get "No Signal" again. Tried attaching the CPU fan into the original socket, same problem.

I only remembered this a BIOS post beep, in addition to four other beeps which I looked up in the manual as signifying a hardware problem. I then turned off thee computer, removed the cables from the graphics card, and started it up, and got a single BIOS post beep, but still no display. :(

Here are my specs:
Processor: Intel I5 3570k
Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 680
PSU: Corsair Gaming Series 2013 Edition GS 800W ATX/EPS
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard
Hard Drive: Western Digital 1TB internal Hard Drive
Case: Cooler Master HAF XM USB 3.0 E ATX Case

I'm really becoming stressed about the display not working; I spent over £1000 on building this PC, and have waited months to be able to build it. Any help would be really appreciated.

I know you've probably already done most of this, however, it's good to check. Very carefully recheck - and reconfirm - all your motherboard connections. We've all connected things wrongly before so this step will help check for that. The CPU and No Signal errors suggest at least 2 issues.

Go back into the BIOS and carefully examine the PC Health information (or whatever its called in your system). Look at things like the fan speeds - CPU fan ok?

Make sure the gfx card is seated in the correct PCIe slot - most motherboards insist on a specific slot for single card configurations.

Now check the BIOS 1st Display setting. Make sure it's set to something like PCIe First (where your gfx card sits).

Make sure the video out cable is...

Make sure the video out cable is plugged into the back of the gfx card and that the video input on the monitor is set appropriately.

Try changing the video lead if there's still an issue.

There are many other things you can do but hopefully your problems lie with the something simple.

Like I said, I'm unable to go into the BIOS because the monitor has no signal, and I've tried with both the VGA and DVI cables. The graphics card is currently installed in the first PCIE socket (there are two), should I move it to the second one? I did try taking it out but can't get it to come out.

Glad to see it was something easy to sort out. Luckily, most issues such as this end up being fairly straightforward to fix :) It's the time taken to troubleshoot that gets frustrating...and more frustrating the more experience you get :(

You've a great system there. Have fun!
