Either of them is good for bf4. But FX is an 8-Core CPU. And Intel is a 4 core.
You can go either. But the i5 is much better in single threaded applications while the FX is good in some Multi-Core Usage like video editing, rendering. But the FX is cheaper than the i5. So choose what fits your budget.

FX 8320/8350 would be a better CPU for BF4 over an i5. I would go with the FX 8320 and put money saved towards GPU if you need it. FX 8350 is basically a factory overclocked 8320. As all the FX chips are unlocked, matching the 8350's speed is a simple multiplier bump.

Based on the benchmarks now, the 8320 is one of the best CPUs can get.

However, take a massive grain of salt with them. Its beta and people have been reporting about framerate issues.

Both the 8350 and the 8320 will do the trick, depends on your budget, difference of about $40 between the two. Keep in mind you'll need a AM3+ socket. Also, to increase the overall performance, consider 8 megs of memory, if not 16. Imo, the more Mem the better.

would any generation from i5 will do the work? it doesn't have to be unlocked , right?..what about the i5-3330 Ivy bridge?

Either an i5 or FX-8350 will do.

Below is a benchmark for BF 4 BETA. Intel's Ivy Bridge and Haswell CPUs are not part of the benchmark. The benchmark shows that BF 4 certainly does benefit from Hyper Threading. The FX-8350 is basically just as fast as the i7-2600k.

Haswell CPUs are on average 12%more powerful than Sandy Bridge CPUs. Let's just assume that translates directly into increased performance in BF 4 by 12% as well. So a Haswell CPU clocked at the same speed as an i5-2500k will give you about 60.5 FPS which brings you up to the same level of performance as the FX-8350.

Intel CPUs generally performs better in games compared to AMD CPUs, but this is one game where the FX-8350 seems to provide the same level of performance as Haswell. I say "seems" because my 60.5 FPS is just a calculation and were are talking about the BETA version of the game.

I wouldn't give that graph a lot of credit because a GTX Titan strugguling to get 60FPS minimum FPS with a 3970x at 1680x1050 screams unoptimization and/or glitches.

With the i5-4570 + 7950 running 1080p on ultra I'm getting 55-60fps in BF4 which, according to that chart, is pretty much the same as the 8350 with a Titan at a lower resolution and no AA. Interesting....
