I have a 1TB HDD installed on my PC and I'm looking to buy and add a new 150-200GB SSD for my operating system. Basically I have 3 partition on my HDD. 100GB for System, 350GB for Data and 500GB for Gaming. I'm looking to move all the file from my system to my new SSD and I'm wondering whats the most effective and best way to do this? Do I just have to insert the new SSD into the PC and copy paste everything? Do I have to re-install windows on the new SSD? What will happen if I have 2 storage disks on a PC? Because I have absolutely no idea.

And is it possible to move the 'empti-ed' 100GB space into my Data drive, if so could you recommend me a program? I'd like to take precautions before doing this because I usually end up doing something fatal and enough is enough.

You don´t have to reinstall Windows. To make sure you get the most out of your SSD, you should make sure your BIOS is set to AHCI. But don´t just change it there if it isn´t. You would need to edit your registry first.

If you have two storage disks your system will boot from the device selected as (first) boot drive in the BIOS.

You can add the freed 100Gb to your other partitions by using partitioning tools. Either windows tools or third party tools. But again: Create a...
