Hello everyone.
I am building my first gaming PC and have had lots of prior experience upgrading individual components. However this is the first time from scratch.
My question is;

When I install my cards should I install the software straight from the disc or the latest Catalyst suite from AMD ?
I have just had an experience trying to deal with Catalyst install/unistall on my other computer. what a NIGHTMARE !! I really dont want to have that happen on my new gaming rig also.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Joel

Driver from disc wasnt updated, you should install the latest driver for your GPU from their website. In AMD driver, you must delete first the previous driver before you install new one.

To expand on what rudland said you should install the latest beta driver (13.10 beta 2).

When i DL the latest Catalyst Suite that includes Beta Driver, will it have the Install Manager in there as well ?
Once thats done then I can just DL GPU Tweak from the disc. Correct ?

Yes,
I dont know which graphics card you are using...
I dont recommend to install GPU Tweak,
Better use only CCC.

You'll be alright. The install/uninstall nightmare only occurs if you don't completely un-install the old Radeon drivers from your system before installing the new cards. Ghosty on Guru3D has a little tutorial on how to avoid any and all problems. I've been running crossfire with my twin XFX HD 4870s for around 4 years now and I can tell you, it's a great experience. The longevity of a crossfire setup is superb! Here is a link to the tutorial:

I've used those steps myself and have never encountered any problems. Enjoy! :D

Thank you so much guys !!
I just installed the power supply and the MB/CPU is next. I must confess the tangle of wires staring at me is rather intimidating. I forgot to mention that im running HD 7970 DirectCU 2 in Crossfire.
