Hello all,

I have been a lurker for a long time and have usually been able to find answers here without having to ask a question. Thank you!

To the point, I am trying to stretch out the life of my gaming PC for one more year (I have had it for just over 3 years). I want to upgrade my GPU but I am not very savvy. I definitely am an NVIDIA guy. Could someone please recommend a GPU that would work in my rig as far as compatibility and without bottlenecking?

My purpose is to be able to alpha and beta test the upcoming Star Citizen game on CryTek's CryEngine 3.

I would love to hear a cash is no object suggestion as well as a best bang for the buck option. I would also appreciate any other bang for the buck upgrade recommendations.

Here are my specs :

Chassis Model: Cooler Master 942 HAF X
Processor: Intel Core i7 930 2.8GHz OVERCLOCKED to 4.0GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Extreme (Intel X58 Chipset)
System Memory: 12GB DDR3 1600MHz
Power Supply: 1200W
Hard Drive Set 1: OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 240GB SATA 6Gb/s
Video Card(s): 1x NVIDIA EVGA GeForce GTX 580
Cooling: Asetek Liquid CPU Cooler

Thank you!

Cash is no option: GTX Titan or GTX 790.
Best bang for the buck (as far as nVidia is concerned anyway): GTX 760

I do have to say this though, nVidia guy or not, the GTX 760 gets pummelled at its price point by the Radeon HD 7970. The HD 7970 is priced like a GTX 760 and performs like a GTX 770. Not saying you have to get that, but it is worth your consideration, especially since the R9-280X is now out and etailers are trying to clear the HD 7xxx series out now. I got mine for $300 (-$30 mail-in-rebate) and it's a beast. Whatever your pleasure, I hope I helped you. :D

"790" LOL. Well, the 580 still held a grudge against the 7950, so the only real upgrade to the 580 is a 780 or perhaps a used dual 680 SLI setup.
