Which Motherboard is better for gaming?

Hello everyone,

I just bought i7 4770k and gtx titan but still looking for the best mother board for gaming.

Gigabyte G- sniper or MSI XPower? I'm leaning more towards the XPower because of the killer2200 chip on the board the decreases lag.. any suggestions please?

Bigger fan of MSI and ASUS boards myself, if you're debating between those two, go with the MSI. However, the Xpower might be overkill depending on what you're trying to do...

Unless this isn't the Gigabyte you're looking for, the G-Sniper has Killer nic as well...

Honestly, unless you're doing a lot of overclocking, or plan to buy more Titans, the MSI XPower is overpriced for your need. You could get by with a Z87-GD65, an MSI MPower, or an ASUS Maximus Hero for the same price as the (above linked) G-Sniper (assuming that's the one you were looking at) and get similar performance. The MSI Z87 GD65 also has Killer nic as well.

I'm kinda still new to the overclocking, I'm an old gamer tho but never tried to overclock my hardware because I was afraid it might harm my computer. I think I might give the overclocking a shot this time but I might need some help with that too.

I'm not planing to get more Titans but if the MSI killer 2200 chip on the board is useful and helps the lag problems as they claim then this is the perfect board for me because 90% of the games I play are online. Is there something similar to that killer chip on any other board?

MSI XPower has the same features of the MSI gaming but more. I'm not planing to change the motherboard I'm going to buy now for the next 3-4 years so I'm trying to get a good board.

The main thing that attracts me to the MSI is the killer 2200 chip because I play a lot of online games. I'm trying to know if this chip really works and help the lag as they claim. I'm also trying to know if the other boards out there has something similar to that.

There are lots of other boards out there with the Killer NIC chip. Like I said, the MSI GD65 has capabilities for 2-way SLI/Crossfire if you do decide to buy a second Titan, has plenty of support for overclocking, and has a Killer 2200 NIC, for less than half the price of the XPower. What you're paying for on that XPower is the extra PCI-Express lanes for more video cards and some of the built in WiDi and WiFi features. If those aren't important to you, go for something in the $200 range.

The Killer NIC is a NIC, good (if they got the bugs all out, remember all those mobos (MSI) went out and needed a BIOS fix for them...I and most builders I know won't touch MSI due to QC issues, look at the mobo reviews from people who bought them, and no consistency, but failure of SATA ports here, USB ports there, the ethernet port (still) etc....I'd look to Asus (the Hero or Pro to start), or a Rock or GB mobo

And I noticed there are boards with killer 2100 chip.. what is the difference between the killer 2200 chip and the killer 2100 chip? which is better for gaming lags problem?

What Tradesman said. There's not going to be a huge difference between the Killer chips. Just different "revisions' but it's mostly the software that drives your performance gain with those chips. You might notice a slight difference over run of the mill onboard ethernet cards, but not a drastic one, so I wouldn't sweat over making that decision to be honest.

Any motherboard with some bandwidth-management software (like the one the ASUS Maximus Hero's Intel ethernet comes with, or the Killer NIC chips) is going to give you some ping reduction over standard onboard solutions, so don't sweat too much over the different kinds of Killer NIC numbers or the Killer vs other board solutions. At the end of the day, if your internet connection is just really slow, it's still going to lag, no ethernet card is going to automagically fix that for you, so keep that in mind as well.
