I was given the i7-3770 SR0PK 3.4GHZ processor for free so I want to build a rig around this. Reviews are a plenty on New Egg, Amazon, you tube, etc. This is a entry to mid level gaming rig for my 11 year old son. I am not looking to break the bank but I want quality components that will last him a while. A good long warranty is a plus.

These are the ATX boardsI have seen around my price point but I cannot decide, though I do like ASUS.

ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

One very important note I am not interested in overclocking any of my components. My son wont know the difference. Also I am looking to pair it up with something like this: EVGA GeForce GTX650Ti Boost SuperClocked 2GB GDDR5 192bit

Please help me out. Send me links as well if you can.

Here is a list I compiled on New Egg for this build:

Yes, arguably... Asus is the best
The board you linked to would be fine. And the 3770 is a high end CPU (it's just not unlocked).
I can't log into your "wishlist" but the GTX 650 is fine too(mid-range). When it comes to GPU's, there will be always future upgrades, plus the (GPU) industry will be moving a generation ahead in 2014 anyway; to the 20nm process.

But the 3770/Asus based rig will be good for several years.

Amazon is selling this version of the board: ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Emphasis on the LX. Is the LK version better? Will it matter to me...again I am not overclocking anything.

And I guess while I have you guys here...if there enough of an improvement from the 650TI I mentioned above to this one? ASUS Graphic Cards GTX660-DC2O-2GD5. Spec wise the ASUS outperforms...but will my 11-year old, who has only known the Xbox360 and PS3, even notice the difference?

The 650 Ti and GTX 660 and both based on the same GK106 part. A 2.5 billion transistor chip. But the GTX 660 is about 32% more powerful(1425 vs. 1881 gigaflops). As the 660 is clocked higher, ect...(the chips are likely "binned"). However it is a "sledgehammer" approach. Like comparing any of the current 28nm GPU's... the 660 uses 30 more watts(110 vs. 140), so it also makes sense that's more powerful.

And the GTX 660 is the most powerful GK106 chip, after that you have to move up to GK104(3.5 billion transistors).

Back to the mobo, the Rock Extreme 4 you looked at is the best selling and best rated Z77 available, check the ratings at the Egg, had mine since it was released and never a problem, has run with everthing I through at it which has been a lot (use it to test components for new builds, upgrades, etc and it's a few dollars less
