My wireless router has an eight digit network key, when I try to connect to the my router in the network list and use this key it won't accept it. It says the key must be exactly 5 or 13 ascii characters or exactly 10 or 26 hexidecimal characters. I have spoken to the network provider and the company that sold the laptop to me but they have no answers, I have also tried to find the answer myself but have had no luck so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Possible the wireless card or driver doesn't support the security protocol the wireless network is using. For example there are a few older wireless cards that don't support WPA2. What wireless card and driver version is installed in the laptop and what protocol is the network using?
[Hi, thanks for your reply. My network connection is handled by microsoft windows, the network adapter is Intel pro wireless 2200BG. It says the driver version is 9.0.4.39. I'm not really sure if this is the right information you asked for?

That should support WPA2(assuming thats what it uses). What OS are you using? If its XP try this update that adds WPA2 support.
