alienware m17x R2 black screens

i have an alienware m17x R2 and when i swith to discrete gpu cards the gtx260m after some use i have black screens its happens after some time also in gaming, but sometimes its runs fine, i trid upgrading the drivers but the problem does not solved,i dont know if a bios upgrade will help, i dont know what is the proble, can someone gave me some hints pls? maybe its overheating but the system has never shutdowned so i dont know if its overheating, i think maybe on of the gpus is fualty

A black screen my friend from my experience with laptops points to overheating.

Are you playing on a flat surface with clearance for the fan ventilation? Last time this happened to me my laptop fried.

Are you using a cooling pad? If not run out get one. Updating everything never hurts. If something is going wrong and you have updated everything via Windows try going directly to the manufacturers page at least for the gpu.

Where your laptop ventilates keep your hand near and see if just straight hot air is blowing out. Hope this helps.

i have an antec big fan cooling pad,the vents are clean but i never clean it from inside in 5 years or repaste thermal paste, but its goes black screen sometime even while im not gaming but i can still hearing the fans spinning high sometimes and the screen goes black in the desktop normal usage, thx for your tips, i think i should bring it to someone confident to work in alienware laptops maybe the dell centre of my country and tell them to make me a full cleanup from the inside, i dont have any problems with the integrated card due that is never generate heat but the dual 260m generate heat even from normal usage, i hope its not a gpu fualt cos dell without warranty dont upgrade or replace gpus i think, thx my friend
