So, I have all my parts shipping in for my gaming desktop build (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1M1ak), and I wanted the GPU to be the new 280x which is coming out tomorrow. I heard that when new cards are released that they sell out within 20 minutes, I have class early tomorrow so I wasn't planning on staying up until midnight. So my question is will the cards hit the markets tonight at midnight or will they be getting here sometime midday tomorrow? Thanks.

I think most enthusiasts are waiting for the 290x. The 280x is just a rebranded 7970. It all depends on how much stock the stores have and answer you get will be pure speculation.

Don't pay a premium for one if you can't find it just to have it first. Prices will drop in a few weeks when all the hype has died down. It isn't like they are ipads or iphones. Nobody is camping out in front of Tiger Direct to buy one of these.

I heard that the 280x is only $300? This is apparently a re-branded 7970 Ghz which costs around $350? I have all the rest of the parts currently sitting in my closet waiting for a GPU to go with it so I can get started on building it so I think I should just buy it for $300.

If it is just a 7970, then it definitely isn't going to be sold out.

it is a 7970, but clock speeds are tweaked. So if you want a 280 right now, go buy a 7970ghz OC version.
