Wireless is working everywhere, but my hard-wired PC says its connected and wont connect

Running windows 8, built my first PC a couple months ago and everything has been working flawlessly. I got home from school today to my apartment and the wireless is working on my roommates laptops, my laptop, and the xbox.

However, my PC is hard-wired straight to the wall, not through a router or anything. It claims im connected to the internet, but nothing is working. Pretty sure I have the latest LAN driver so I dont think that's the problem. I dont have a wireless card for my PC so I cant connect wirelessly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to ping the Internet? - ping 8.8.8.8

If not, can you ping your default gateway?

If not, then swap the Ethernet cables, and/or move the computer to connect directly to your switch/router and see if you can ping anything then
